More About Me

My family moved to Portland when I was six months old, just in time to experience the Vanport Flood. I graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in 1965. Spent two years in the US Army from October, 1966 to 1968. Attended Portland Community College, studied engineering at the University of Portland and ultimately graduated from Portland State University with a major in Business and a minor in Finance/Real Estate. I bought my first house while a junior in college and the experience left me thinking that there needed to be a more professional way to handle people's important real estate transactions. When I graduated from college I went straight into the business. That was in 1972. Having spent my entire career in Portland, I know this City and what you need to know to make good decisions about your real estate.

Out of approximately 500 agents I have been among the top 20% in company sales performance every year. Over 80% of my business comes from returning clients or the referrals of satisfied clients.

I believe people want professional attention whether buying or selling. They want knowledge, experience, honesty and integrity and not a sales pitch or pressure. You should choose your real estate professional in much the same way you select your doctor, lawyer or accountant.
I have a historical knowledge of the City's development, neighborhoods, markets and hundreds of specific housing/neighborhood problems/ issues you should know. Forty years of negotiating transactions has given me a unique perspective on how to help clients get what & where they want.

I'm a small boat, blue water sailor. I've crosssed the Pacific Ocean two and a half times (ask about this) and the Atlantic Ocean, sailing to Bermuda, the Azores, Gibraltar, northern Africa, both the Atlantic side of Europe and the Mediterranean Sea side of Spain. My sister and I rebuilt and currently own a 51', steel hulled sailboat named "Samarium" (means "One of the Earth's rare elements") and have sailed her all over the Pacific Northwest, including a trip to Glacier Bay, Alaska and back. I'm also, an avid golfer working hard toward a single-digit handicap.
